Charity Event 3 " Paying it Forward to our Community"

A Heart felt community gesture spoken from a Child. Our Last " Paying it Forward to our Community", comes at the request from our daughter Katie and our son Nicholas. Katie who thought of the idea first but the enthusiasm comes from both of their hearts, with innocents, and with their willing to help their Daddy and Mommy. Here's how it came about. For the Last 3-4 weeks the Kids have heard Myself, Lindsay, Family Members, and Friends talk about "Paying it Forward to our Community" Mid week of Mar.28th 2010 Lindsay and the kids were walking home from school and Katie noticed litter beside the side walk and said " Lindsay, Step Mom , I know something we could do. We could pick up the garbage on the way to and from school, just so that Nicky and me can help You and Daddy win a free wedding".

Now , I was at work at the time and once I came home Lindsay told me of the Kid's idea . I had watery eyes , almost tears.
The point here is, that for weeks now the kids have been listening, learning and watching Lindsay and I discuss and execute ideas for "Paying it Forward to our Community " and now our kids want to do the something in order to help their Mommy and Daddy and also help the Community. That's a heart wrenching ... isn't it? I'm biting my fist :).

For our last Event for "Paying it Forward to our Community" The Kids picked up some Garage along the street on their way home from school as well we are planning an Earth Day (April 22nd) outing to clean up our local Park(Avondale Park) here in Courtice .

We leave you with a HUGE Thanks to Brenda & Co and to all the Vendors that have come on board and with the heart lifting idea of "Paying it forward to our Community".

We leave you with this thought.... Has the idea of "paying it forward" blossomed in your home? and your Hearts? It has Ours.

From our Family with love to your Family. Thank-you for your Votes

Regards,

Dennis, Lindsay, Katie, Nicholas, Braxton and the pets (Harley and Davidson)

Charity Event 2 "Paying it Forward to our Community"

Lindsay and I decided to donate to "The Denise House" in Oshawa. The Denise House is an Emergency Shelter for Abused Women and Their Children. We are donating some Canned Food, Pots, Kitchenware, Clothes, and Toys from the kids . Drop off is only on Wednesdays at their warehouse on Bond St. So this Wednesday April 7Th is when we'll drop off. Below is The Denise House Mission's Statement . Please check out their link and our pictures of gathering the donations.
Words of Wisdom....
“You are a good person. You do not deserve to be beaten or abused. Nobody has the legal right to hurt you. You have the legal right to be free of abuse. You can learn to take care of yourself”
It is Important..
It is important for abused women to be aware that not only is there help and support available to women who are presently in abusive relationships, but there is continued support once she leaves the relationship. A woman needs positive support whether it be from family, friends, or counsellors who understand the issues of abuse. Information about counselling agencies and support services who understand the issues of abuse can be obtained from a local shelter or family doctor. Surviving in an abusive relationship or leaving one can be terribly frightening. However, there is always continued support available. An abused woman does not need to be alone in her struggle for a life free from abuse.

Charity Event 1, Link (3) Bottle Drive Totaling $216.20 . WOW. Thanks to.........

On Sunday (mar 21st) , we completed our Beer/Bottle Drive with amazing results. With the whole family involved we watched the Bottles and Beer cases grow and grow. At times, I thought the tires on the trailer were going to burst! The turn out from our Family, Neighbours and our Neighbourhood was overwhelming. It really brought forth the meaning of "Paying it Forward" , not only for ourselves but also for our neighbours as well . So many of you commented on what a wonderful idea this was, with the proceeds going to The Durham Humane Society Most of us are aware of the Humane Society being burnt down not to long ago. The new building is to start construction in Apr. this year. The new building will be near the intersection of Thickson RD. and Wentworth St E. in Whitby. Our Thanks and appreciation go out to our Family Lisa and Jeff, Gail and John, Cheryl and Steve. To our Friends and Neighbours Shannon and Daniel (Daniel Co. owner of APOM ( Home Inspections), Courtney and Chris, Zack and Laura, Kathleen, Wendel, Betty, Sandy at ( Durham Humane Society), Cindy and Vera at ( The BEER/Distribution Center ) and also our thanks to the Weddingsaviours for reigniting the phase "Paying it forward " . The Humane Society is thank full.

We raised a whopping $216.20 . Thanks again from our hearts.

Lindsay and I topped it up to an even number of $225.00. ( 2 bricks with a phase and engraved , $100 each. $25 was a straight donation)

From the first pic (of us folding the fliers) to the last pic (of Lindsay and Braxton with Katie and Nicholas handing the money over to Sandy), this whole Fundraiser was excellent all around.

Our Family has pets, A dog and a cat named Harley and Davidson. Our love of animals is why our choice was The Durham Humane Society. In our present Economy, times are tough, spirits are low and it wasn’t until recently that we both were enlightened with the kindness of the heart and passion of the human soul.

A few weeks ago Lindsay entered us into contest to win a free Wedding (expenses paid for) with the Weddingsaviours. On Friday March 12th, just passed, we met with the founder of the Company along with some of the vendors supporting the cause. Our hearts were pounding with excitement after our meeting, because the both of us realized once again what the true meaning of “Paying it Forward” meant.

We would like to take this opportunity to “pay it forward to our Community”, to give back, to make someone else smile, to pause and think about others within our fast paced lives.

Our Main goal is to enlighten and to pay it forward, but for those that wish to be a part of our journey towards a free wedding. Come VOTE for Dennis and Lindsay at http://www.weddingsaviours.ca/

Regards and our Gratitude for your time and for Beer / Liquor bottles.

Dennis and Lindsay
